Upon entering Journey Malibu’s Retreatment Program, residents will:
1. Be assessed for symptoms of alcohol or drug withdrawal. If it is determined that detoxification is necessary, we will use appropriate medications to ensure your safety and comfort during the detox process. In general, detoxification lasts anywhere from 3 to 5 days. If detoxing from an Opiate addiction, however, the time frame for safe, medical stabilization may be longer.
2. Meet with a treatment intake coordinator to fill out the necessary paperwork and go over any important information, including anything you’d like to share about yourself at this time. Our goal is to ensure a safe successful “Journey”. We will also inform you of your personal rights, grievance procedures, safety rules and regulations, as well as emergency information.
3. Within the initial stages of substance addiction treatment, residents meet with our physicians for a complete psychiatric and physical evaluation. If necessary, the appropriate medications, or alternative treatments/therapies, will be prescribed.
4. Within the first week, residents meet with their assigned personal Journey case manager. During this session, a bio-psychosocial evaluation is conducted, discussing your treatment goals, and an initial clinical interview is completed. At this time, we will help you take responsibility for your own recovery, create and update your treatment plan, while offering choices from the best allopathic, alternative, and holistic modalities in accordance with your treatment goals.
Journey Malibu provides treatment and the way through addictions and co-occurring disorders guided by an appreciation of the whole person beginning with their symptoms.
