The support and encouragement offered by JOURNEY MALIBU does not end after our guests have left our Drug and Alcohol Rehab Center and returned home. At JOURNEY MALIBU we are committed to maintaining contact with our alumni clients for as long as they desire. We offer a variety of specific areas of Alumni Support, including: Monthly Alumni Meetings, Scheduled Contact with our Alumni Coordinator, Annual Alumni Reunions, 12-step Support, and Phone support.

– ALUMNI PROGRAM QUESTIONS –

– MONTHLY ALUMNI MEETINGS –

All of our clients are encouraged to participate in the on-site alumni meetings that we hold at JOURNEY MALIBU once every month. Prior to these meetings, we serve the alumni delicious and nutritious meal (just like the ones they enjoyed while residents at the Center), while they share their experiences of hope, strength and fellowship with our current guests.

– SCHEDULED CONTACT WITH ALUMNI COORDINATOR –

The latest research has confirmed that an important ingredient for our guests achieving successful, long-term sobriety is maintaining close communication with the recovery center where they received treatment. At JOURNEY MALIBU’s Drug Addiction Treatment Center, we encourage our Alumni to stay in touch with us as often as they like with the aid of the internet and/or phone. If one of our alumnus feels the need for additional support, our Alumni Coordinator will make sure to have a therapist call and schedule a telephone session with the alum in question.

– ANNUAL ALUMNI REUNION –

Alumni of JOURNEY MALIBU’s California Drug Rehab are invited to fully participate in all aspects of the planning and implementation of our annual alumni weekend. The weekend includes a variety of fun activities, including inspirational recovery workshops, yoga on the beach, barbeques, and golf for those so inclined. These weekends are always filled with laughter and fellowship, and friends and families of our alums are encouraged to attend.

– TEMPORARY SPONSOR AND 12-STEP SUPPORT –

During the Primary Care phase, our JOURNEY MALIBU staff take each client to local 12-Step meetings and take them through the process of choosing a “temporary sponsor” who will help orient him or her to the benefits of 12-step attendance, and working the steps. This temporary sponsor will then guide the client through the decision making process of choosing a permanent sponsor. We make sure that all guests leaving our Malibu Drug Rehab will be supplied with local 12-Step meeting schedules.
