Our Purpose:
Journey Malibu is a drug and alcohol treatment center, tailored specifically for Professionals in the most demanding, high-stress jobs, such as Physicians, Attorneys, Judges, and Airline Pilots. These are career professionals whose difficulties with drug and alcohol abuse often require them to answer to state and federal licensing boards, and who subsequently may be placed in monitoring or assistance programs. Our primary purpose at Journey Malibu is to address your substance use disorders and have you practicing your chosen profession again as smoothly, functionally, and effectively as possible. We’ll assist you in devising the corrections necessary to prepare you for a better professional health recovery program, more productive, even more, successful future. And beginning with the first step of your journey of recovery with us, all the way through your transition back into your professional life, we will help you navigate the challenging maze of the monitoring programs and boards to whom you will invariably have to report as you resume your career.
Our Program:
Journey Malibu is proud to offer Substance Use Modality-based treatment designed by professionals for professionals. Our program was developed by a pilot and a formally trained Addiction Medicine physician, both of whom are in recovery and who recognize that the needs of disabled professionals are different from those of the layman. We know better than most the shame, fear and confusion that plague professionals who have substance use disorders. We’re also aware that disabled professionals often find themselves in adversarial relationships with their monitoring programs. But this does not have to be the case. At Journey Malibu, you’ll be guided through a treatment process that will help you address the very specific demands placed upon you by the boards of your respective professions. We will also serve as the liaison between you and the administrative authorities, enabling us to help ensure that you satisfy the conditions and responsibilities placed upon you by these boards. Our program is based upon a rigorously applied clinical based model, which treats addiction as the “primary chronic relapsing disease” that it is. We employ a unique scientific approach to the neurophysiology of the diseases of alcoholism and addiction. This is consistent with the most efficacious treatment of co-occurring disorders associated with substance abuse.

facility catering to a specialized population of those affected by the addiction (substance, co-occurring, and behavioral), physicians, lawyers, and pilots. The very private Tuscan villa tucked into the hills of the exclusive seaside hamlet was founded by a recovering pilot and a state President of the American Society of Addiction Medicine physician whose personal brushes with losing their own pertains to psychiatric care and pilots licenses inspired them to create a highly customized and holistic program for others like them.
